Swim Team

Swimming for the Gliders gives our children an opportunity to improve their swimming skills, experience the thrill of competition, socialize with their friends, make new ones, and just have fun. Six swim meets are held during the regular season, with all except the first being held on Monday evenings at 6:30.  

The Gliders compete in the James River Aquatic Club league.  There are 3 divisions in the league with six teams in each division.  During the regular swim season, teams compete only against other teams in their division.  At the end of the regular season, all 18 teams gather for a 2 day championship meet. 

As always, a successful swim season requires the support of all our parents. The following positions must be staffed for every swim meet: head timer, clerk of course, strokes and turns judges, announcer, starter, head table workers, computer table, concession stand workers, runners, set-up and clean-up crew, etc. We need you to step forward and volunteer to take a leadership or supporting role for these important positions.
